Schimmel Schimmel Classic C116 Modern Upright Piano Schimmel Classic C116 Modern Upright Piano Schimmel Classic 1885 is a momentous year for our company. It was in May of 1885 that Wilhelm Schimmel built his first piano. Inspired by a pioneer spirit and single-minded perseverance, his maxims were always oriented to the expectations of his customers. They could hear and feel the love and care with which his instruments were built and how they were up to standards of the tone quality and touch which even at that time were high. Even today, nothing has has changed in this respect. We stand behind our products with our name. 0 stars, based on 1 reviews 0 5

Schimmel Classic C116 Modern Upright Piano

What makes this piano the best-seller of all Schimmel models? Perhaps because this instrument possesses the ideal combination of reliability, playability, tonal quality and elegance. The model C 116 Tradition, the younger brother of the C 120 Tradition, has made it to the top of the list. This piano has been in our programme for over a decade, but its popularity remains unbroken. It is the quite the contrary: pianists prefer to return again and again to reliable models.

An upright piano is a vertical piano that is popular in homes due to its compact design. Although the width of upright pianos (keyboard length) remains the same, they can range in height from anywhere between 108cm and 132cm. The taller the piano, the longer the strings and hence taller pianos exhibit greater sound projection, depth of tone and provide greater expression capabilities.

New upright pianos generally have three pedals. The right pedal is called the Sustain or Damper Pedal. This sustains, or lengthens the note. In small to medium sized upright pianos the middle pedal is called a Muffler or Practice Pedal. Pressing this pedal causes a piece of felt to drop and muffle the sound of the strings making it ideal for practising students. In taller, more professional level upright pianos the middle pedal is usually a Sostenuto Pedal. This means that the pianist can sustain notes in one hand, while playing notes in the other as long as the pedal is held. The third pedal on the left is the Soft Pedal or Una Corda which, in an upright piano, moves the action forward and limits the distance that the hammers travel.

As a variation of the C 116 Modern the classical console construction method, with legs and toes, stresses the vertical aspect and gives the C 116 Modern Cubus more visual substance. Whether with or without console, both models offer musically and visually a perfect benefit for the senses.
