The Model 5490 5/4 CC produces a massive yet clear sound that blends with the orchestra and provides a powerful foundation. Claude Kashnig and Robert Carpenter perform on the Model 5490.
"What a blast it is playing this horn!
I am finishing up my summer with the National Repertory Orchestra and the horn has played a TON of big rep. I couldn't be happier with the response in all ranges. We play a lot of different rep here and so I'm called to wear a lot of different hats. I've played the horn in full quintet recitals, in bass line pops concerts, and in big orchestras on big pieces (Till, Hary Janos, Tchaikovsky 5 to name a few). In every situation, the horn has been versatile and gotten the job done. But it's not just me who thinks so.
I have gotten a ton of great feedback from the sound engineers, the other musicians, and some visiting pro players who have heard and played with the orchestra. They all talk about what a massive sound the horn puts out and how big and round the sound puts out. One of the trumpet players commented on what a big difference it made for the orchestra having a huge foundation. And all this with the horn being so easy to play...really unbelievable."
