TRIXON SOLIST ELITE WOOD SHELL SNARE WITH WOOD HOOPS 14 by 5.5″

Each shell layer is pure Eastern Yellow Birch. The layers are laminated using high PSI steam and low glue volume for a melodic and rich sound. Trixon Yellow Birch Shells feature a a trademark secret blend of glue that reduces the volume needed in it’s laminate shells therefore increasing the amount of wood available for producing sound.
Our shell hardware uses Low Mass Multi-Point Cylinder Lug Technology™. This technology allows for a single cylinder lug attached to the absolute middle of the drum shell to be anchored into the shell by multiple attachment points. The natural physics of our low mass cylinders direct tensioned-energy equally into the multiple mounting points on the lug. The arrangement of this hardware in relation to the shell minimizes the amount of metal-through-wood contact and maximizes sound producing area. Multiple point anchors assure equal drum head tension throughout the snare.
Trixon lugs, hoops and tension rods are CNC designed and created with our Infinite Tuning Technology™. The ability to tune the drum head to an almost infinitely desire of tension without fear of stripping the rods allows the players a greater range and the ability to tune for different sounds.
Included in this model is a wooden hoops. These beautiful hoops are constructed to a ¾ inch thickness and are 10-ply. They are made of maple and act as an extension of the shell producing and incredibly bright resonance.
Most importantly for our fans and players of Trixon Snares is our quality control process. We use X-Ray technology and random selection to ensure that every drum we produce is of the highest quality. We pride ourselves in being able to produce drums and incredible quality for players on honest budgets.

Trixon Soloist Elite Snare Drum Wood Shell Wood Hoops
After searching in vain for reviews of this drum on the web for months, I decided to take a risk and order one. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase!
The quality of the shell, hoops and hardware is absolutely top notch. The natural birch finish is gorgeous and flawless. The bearing edges are true and smooth. Be prepared - this drum is thick and heavy! The shell plys are tight and even - no excess glue or bulges anywhere. A small complaint - the snare strap cuts in the bottom hoop are a bit ragged.....
While I like the look of the drum pictured, the one I received has some changes that make it even sweeter. First, the straight shaft between the upper and lower lugs has been changed to a tapered, narrow waist design - beautiful! Also, there are now 13(!!) vent holes instead of the original single. Physics, anyone? The hoops are low gloss/flat instead of the high gloss shown.
The drum comes with Remo Ambassador heads - resonant clear snare on the bottom, coated white on the top. The drum tuned easily (love those bearing edges!) and the snare tension system - non adjustable throw-off with an easily adjustable (via knurled knob) butt plate - makes fine tuning of the snares in mid song painless (the adjuster does loosen when playing with the snares disengaged - a bit irritating). The 20 wire snare sounds great and is attached with thin nylon straps, so it falls away smoothly and tensions evenly.
A brilliant design that I've not seen before - the attachment points for the snare straps on both the throw-off and butt plate are angled, so that the straps meet the clamp straight on, providing a more direct pull. Nice detail!
I've played this drum with several types/material/weight of brushes and found the drum to be nicely responsive to a wide range of dynamics. And then there's the cross stick sound - like a wood block! I tend to like a drier, warm & low snare sound and this drum feels right at home in that range. I've not had a chance yet to crank it up and really lay into it, but I suspect it will shine there as well.
Keep in mind that this drum may not fit your snare stand because of the massive hoops.

Thank you Nick for picking me out such a killer drum!!
